Sugaring
Sugaring techniques have been used for centuries to get rid of unwanted body hair with ease. Even people with sensitive skin can use sugar waxing to remove excess hair from virtually any part of the body, and you can find at-home kits made with sugar and lemon to achieve some great results at a minimal cost. Sugaring is a simple, gentle, and effective way to remove body hair and facial hair. Many people actually prefer this hair removal technique over cream wax, electrolysis, shaving, and laser hair removal, because it’s a natural method and eliminates most, if not all, skin complications.

Benefits of Sugaring

Sugaring is THE MOST gentle form of hair removal. You will immediately notice less redness and bumps from your first sugaring session.

It naturally exfoliates the skin leaving it not only smooth from hair removal but silky soft from exfoliation as well- applied with the hand of the technician and no sticks are used. The ball of sugar is used over and over so there is no re-dipping or risk of cross contamination making sugaring the safest and most hygienic form of hair removal. It is not heated, the paste is at about room temperature making the application more comfortable than hot wax. No risk of burning the skin.

Sugar paste is applied in the opposite direction of hair growth, allowing the paste to lift the hair off of the surface of the skin and really grab on to the shaft of the hair, as well as enter into the follicle where the root is. The paste is then removed in the same direction of the hair growth, allowing for the hair to naturally be removed from the entire root bulb, resulting in less breakage of the hairs. This leads to less re-growth and in time more permanence of hair removal.

Here are some sugaring hair removal tips for the best results and beautiful skin:
  1. 1. Make sure your hair is long enough. Your hair needs to be at least 1/4″ long before you use the sugaring technique. If your hair is too short, the sugaring formula won’t be able to pick up the hair at the root. This might mean waiting a few weeks for your hair to grow out but this is essential for getting the results you want.
  2. Prepare your skin for the sugaring session. Even though sugaring hair removal techniques are a more natural solution for getting rid of unwanted body hair than many of today’s popular treatments, you still need to prepare your skin properly. You’ll need to make sure the area is as clean as possible and free of any oils and lotions. Exfoliating your skin the day before a sugaring session will help you achieve better results.
  3. Use a good moisturizer after your sugaring session. One of the best things you can do for your skin after hair removal is to shower and to apply moisturizer. Your skin will absorb any products you apply right after a shower fairly quickly so you’ll see results right away. A Shea butter body cream or a fragrance-free mineral oil free and petroleum free intensive body moisturizer can be very beneficial to the skin. If you have sensitive skin, use a moisturizer that contains aloe, chamomile, and other soothing ingredients. Apply moisturizer daily to keep that just sugared amazingly smooth skin.

Sugaring and Waxing FAQ

  • How long does my hair have to be to get sugaring or waxing done?

Your hair must be at least 1/4 of an inch long for sugaring or waxing. In real life terms that means AT LEAST 2 weeks of regrowth after shaving (yes, seriously!), or at least 3 weeks of regrowth after your last sugaring or waxing session.

  • Should I trim my hair if it is longer?

No, we prefer if you do not trim your hair because people tend to trim in too short which will effect your results. We have electric trimmers and will trim in for you if needed.

  • How long does sugaring and waxing last?

Waxing will typically last about 2 weeks until you notice any regrowth and 4 weeks until there is enough hair to wax again.

  • Does sugaring and waxing hurt?

We’ll be honest with you. Yes, a bit. For some people more than others. Does one hurt more than the other? We have come to realize that eveyone has their own opinion.

  • What is the difference between sugaring and waxing?

The main difference between sugaring and waxing is the product that is used. Sugaring uses sugar paste, waxing uses wax. And the method in which the products are applied and removed use different techniques.

  • Which is better, sugaring or waxing?

Again, everyone has their own opinion but in OUR opinion, we think sugaring delivers better results and is easier on the skin than waxing.

  • What is a Brazilian?

A brazilian removes most or all of the hair from the pubic area and behind area. You can choose to have it ALL removed or to leave a little behind in the areas of your choice.

  • How do I prepare for sugaring or waxing?

If you know ahead of time you will be getting sugared or waxed you should start exfoliating to get all the hairs out of any dead skin build up. Don’t exfoliate the day of getting your hair removal service however because it may cause sensitivity. Before waxing you can shower and be sure not to aplly any lotions or cosmetics to the areas being waxed.

  • How can I help relieve the pain of sugaring or waxing?

Some people choose to take an over the counter pain reliever 30-60 minutes before their waxing appointment. We suggest ibuprofen or acetaminophen, not aspirin (causes blood thinning). Also, there are topical numbing creams containing lidocaine that can ease pain up to 60%. Must be applied 30 minutes prior to service.

  • What if I am on or start my period?

If you start your period and still want a Brazilian we will still do your service if you wear a tampon. If you are close to the time of menstration and don’t feel comfortable coming in if you do start your period please do not schedule an appointment around that time because if you have to cancel same day our cancellation policy and fees will still apply.

  • What is the aftercare for sugaring and waxing?

We suggest just resting your skin for the rest of the day after sugaring or waxing. That means just taking it easy. No super hot water, no heavy exercising, no sun exposure. We will apply calming and nourishing skincare products after your wax and you can continue to if needed at home. Once your skin is back to normal you need to exfoliate and moisturize your skin daily to avoid ingrown hairs.
